How to upgrade your healing potions in Diablo 4

Your local alchemist will give you the hook-up

When you first start out in Diablo 4, you will be given some extremely basic tools in order to survive a cold, winter storm. You’ll have a small weapon, some common gear, and four healing potions that you can use to replenish your health. However, as you will soon discover, those healing potions won’t be doing much good when you start to face tougher and tougher enemies. So, naturally, players will be looking for ways to upgrade the potency of their healing potions in Diablo 4.

At first glance, though, you don’t have any way of doing this. You can’t even click on the potions that you do have, as they’re not visible in your inventory. Fortunately, there is a simple and easy way to upgrade your healing potions. All you’ll need is a level requirement and some key ingredients.

For starters, you won’t be able to do any sort of upgrading to your character’s gear or items until you reach the city of Kyovashad. This is the first major hub that you see in Diablo 4, and it comes right after the Rite of Passage quest, where you need to inscribe a word on a piece of wood.

After reaching Kyovashad, you will be in the middle of the city. From the waypoint, you can head southwest and eventually see a mortar and pestle icon on your mini-map. This is the Alchemist’s shop, and if you talk to the shop owner, Veroka, you can see that you are able to upgrade your potions through the shop. You start off with a Weak Healing Potion by default, but can upgrade that to a Tiny Healing Potion once you reach level 10. You will also need two Gallowvine, which is a plant found commonly out in the world.

However, before you can use Veroka’s Alchemist shop, you need to reach level 10. At this point, a Priority Quest icon will appear on the Alchemist’s shop, telling you that you need to go there to upgrade your potions. Follow the quest and you will successfully upgrade your potion to a Tiny Healing Potion, which restores more HP upon use.

You can upgrade that potion once you reach level 20, and so on. You will need more and more ingredients the more advanced your healing potions become, so make sure to always pick plants when exploring the map.
