One of the several returning features in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the ability to dye your armor. This allows you to completely change the look of Link on the fly without needing to find an entirely new set of armor. Although, if you happen to find the Barbarian Armor set, you might be inclined to change your armor at that point. Regardless, the ability to dye your armor was popular with fans in Breath of the Wild and it will likely be popular with Tears of the Kingdom fans as well.
If you want to learn exactly how you can change your armor’s color, keep reading our guide below.
Dye your armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The only location that we have discovered that allows you to dye your armor is Hateno Village, which is found in the very southeast portion of the map, southwest of Mount Lanayru and north of East Necluda. The easiest way to find Hateno Village is to either follow the quest of Robbie the Researcher or follow the path that eventually brings you to the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower.
Once you’re at the village, you want to find Sayge’s shop, which is marked by a sword icon on your map. Inside the shop, talk to Sayge and they will allow you to dye both your armor and your paraglider for 20 Rupees each time. When dying your armor, you have the option of selecting from several colors, which in turn require you to give Sayge specific materials associated with each color.
Before you hand over your Rupees and materials, you can preview what Link would look like with the newly-colored armor. However, some armor pieces cannot be dyed, so make sure you’re always previewing what you buy.
And that’s everything you need to know about dying your armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The process is simple, but getting back to Hateno Village every time you want to dye an armor piece could get tedious. To combat that, you can always leave a Travel Medallion near the village or fast travel to it using another method.
