Panda and Adorama have worked together since August of 2020 on the Adorama Charity Cup. Through this series of online fighting game tournaments, they have raised money for multiple charitable causes. These include Stand With Students, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Gamers Outreach.

The New York Smashdown will be their first offline charity event since Adorama became Panda’s official retail electronics partner in January. The event will raise money for Sunflower of Peace, a non-profit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts. Sunflower of Peace procures items like first-aid backpacks, medicine and medical instruments, which it then distributes to doctors and paramedics in Ukraine.

More about The New York Smashdown

The New York Smashdown’s main event will be a double-elimination bracket featuring eight players from the East Coast of the United States, who were seeded in a way that would avoid close regional conflicts. In addition, every set of the tournament will be best-of-five.

The following round one matches have been set for the invitational:

  • Samuel “Dabuz” Buzby vs. Jon “Suarez” Suarez
  • Chris “Quidd” Rella vs. Michael “Tilde” Tedesco
  • Salvatore “Zomba” DeSena vs. Chris “WaDi” Boston
  • Tyler “Marss” Martins vs. Alan “Gen” Soriano

In addition, the venue will be open for up to 64 attendees. Spectators can register for free and will then be able to play friendlies at one of 18 Smash Ultimate setups around the venue. Players who are not in the invitational will also have the option to enter side brackets with prizes.

House of 3000 will stream The New York Smashdown on the AdoramaXP Twitch channel. The tournament will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET on May 22.
