A mount is one of the most desired items in Diablo 4. As you might expect, a mount allows you to traverse the map at a much higher speed than you could normally achieve while on foot. Not only that, but you can escape enemy encounters that you don’t want to deal with much easier, making a mount truly necessary for the later parts of the game.
However, mounts don’t have to be left alone after you acquire one. Instead, the developers have given players a chance to customize their mounts in Diablo 4. This process is somewhat confusing early on, though, so allow me to explain more in the guide below.
Customize your mount in Diablo 4
When you first unlock the ability to own a mount, you will get some on-screen tutorials that explains how mounts work. One of those tutorials goes into detail about customizing them. If you missed that part, though, I will break it down.
You can customize the different parts of your mount at a Stable Master, which is the horse icon on your map. Talk to the NPC running the stable and you will be brought to the mount menu. Here, you can buy new mounts or customize your existing one. However, you can also customize your mount from your inventory.
Along your journey, you might pick up some items that are for your mount. I, for example, picked up a piece of horse armor that I could equip onto my mount directly from my inventory by simply right-clicking on it. Most of the time, though, you will be doing your customizing through the Stable Master.
If you pre-ordered the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of Diablo 4, you will already have access to some mount customization options. You can equip these at the Stable Master upon first receiving your mount at the start of Act 4.
