Dondons are a brand new creature that players can find in Hyrule in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While they are certainly cute in their own way, some players want to track Dondons for other reasons aside from their appearance. There are certain quests that require you to find Dondons and they also “produce” gems that players can pick up and add to their inventory.

I will get into all of that in the guide below, but first, I’ll explain exactly how and where you can find Dondons in Tears of the Kingdom.

Dondons were apparently first discovered by Zelda as a new species in Hyrule. They look like a mix of several different creatures but sport large horns on the sides of their head, a spiky back, and huge teeth that come out of their mouth.

If you want to see a Dondon for yourself, you will need to travel to the Lakeside Stable. Here, you can use your paraglider to visit the coordinates of 1562, -3354, 0059. This will lead you to a Chasm where there is a Dondon pen close by. The pen is on top of a cliff right near the Chasm that you can climb up, even without a stamina upgrade.

At the Dondon pen, you can view the creatures as much as you would like. However, if you feed them a Luminous Stone, they will produce a random gem that you can pick up. To feed them the stone, just drop it on the ground right in front of them. They will eat it, and then sometime later, a gem will come out of the other side. You can acquire gems like Ruby, Topaz, Sapphire, Amber, and Opal. Diamonds are not attainable through this method, it seems.
