Yesterday, the Season 1 version of Kings Canyon returned to Apex Legends. Season 4 has only featured the World’s Edge map with the exception of this weekend. Until Feb. 24, Kings Canyon will be a separate playlist within Apex Legends. After that, the map will return to the game for the second split of Ranked Series 3 on Mar. 24.
So far, the community has had over a day with Kings Canyon after playing on World’s Edge for two seasons. Is the map how players remember it, or has the community’s perception changed after playing on World’s Edge?
Is Kings Canyon still the top dog in Apex Legends?
Since the majority of the Apex Legends player base started their career in Season 0 or 1, Kings Canyon has a nostalgic feel to it. From the overall scenery to the specific locations, World’s Edge has a hard time comparing.
Although, it seems like some players who remembered Kings Canyon fondly aren’t too happy with it in Season 4. To start, the matches finish far quicker than they do on World’s Edge for one simple reason: Skull Town. Every match in Kings Canyon sees at least six teams drop at the shantytown. Since only one or two teams make it out alive, that’s nearly half the lobby gone within the first five minutes.
To go along with this, the loot at Skull Town and in Kings Canyon as a whole isn’t great. There’s not a ton of ammunition and tier-one weapons, making for some tough gunfights. This is one area where World’s Edge seems to beat out the Season 1 map.
does the loot in kings canyon feel absolutely terrible for anyone else?
or is the worlds edge loot just goated ?

While it’s been great to venture around Kings Canyon again, there are certainly some things Respawn needs to work on. After all, this map will be the only one played in Ranked come Mar. 24.
