Twitch Prime Crown Cup is a competitive Apex Legends event set to take place in Las Vegas on July 13. “Competitive” is a relative term in this case, however. The players competing will be various celebrities with a varying range of Apex experience. Sounds like a blast.
“Music, movie, and streaming celebrities” will face off in Kings Canyon. Viewers can watch the entire event live on Twitch. Twitch Prime-exclusive cosmetics will also drop “days before the event.” This is most likely a reference to the Twitch Prime rainbow content drop happening tomorrow. The drop features exclusive skins for upcoming legend Wattson and the L-Star EMG.
Jay and Silent Bob?
The Twitch Prime Crown Cup will open with the Streamer Challenge event. “Eight special-guest Twitch streamers square off to see who will advance to the Crown Cup main event,” says the announcement.
That will be followed by the Crown Cup tournament itself. It will consist of several rounds of Apex Legends matches. Commentary throughout the event will be provided by Kevin Smith and Jay Mewes of Jay and Silent Bob fame. Their franchise hasn’t exactly aged well, but the pair will likely make entertaining hosts either way. They will also interview Crown Cup participants between matches.
On July 11 and 12, Twitch viewers can also tune in to watch the tournament practice rounds. This is when the participating celebrities will “take their first steps into the world of Apex Legends.” They will be guided by the participating streamers, which will hopefully be enough preparation to actually put up a fight in Kings Canyon.
Twitch Prime Crown Cup will go down on July 13 in Las Vegas. A counterpart event hosting EA Sports games will happen at the same time in London. Both events will be live-streamed on Twitch, of course.
