Plus, what to know in the lead up to the launch of the game

The Zelda OLED Switch features a number of unique patterns based on Tears of the Kingdom. These patterns decorate the Joy-Con controllers, the dock, and the back of the console itself. Notably, the dock for this particular Switch features the Hylian Crest, an iconic logo depicting the Triforce atop a winged, bird-like figure.

Nintendo is also releasing a new Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and carrying case based on Tears of the Kingdom. These both feature the Hylian Crest as well. However, interested buyers should note that these accessories will launch a bit after the OLED Switch release in April. Instead, the Pro Controller and carrying case will come out on May 12.

How much will Tears of the Kingdom cost?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will cost $70 for buyers in the United States. This is a notable increase from the typical $60 price tag attached to most of the Nintendo Switch’s biggest games. As a result, players may be able to expect titles from prominent series like Mario and Pokémon to cost $70 as well going forward.

Meanwhile, the suggested retail price for the Zelda OLED Switch is $360. Zelda fans should also be prepared to pay $75 if they want the commemorative Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and $25 for the decorative carrying case.

When is it coming out?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will launch on the Nintendo Switch on May 12. This is the same day that the associated Pro Controller and carrying case will launch. However, fans should note that they can get their hands on the Zelda OLED Switch a month before the game comes out if they so choose.

Will Zelda be on regular Nintendo Switch and Lite or only OLED?

Players will be able to play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on any Nintendo Switch variant. This includes regular Nintendo Switches and Nintendo Switch Lite consoles. As a result, there is no obligation for players to buy the Zelda OLED Switch just because they want to play Tears of the Kingdom.

Instead, this special Switch model is simply a separate reward that diehard fans of the series can obtain if they so choose. It’s worth noting that a standard Nintendo Switch costs $300 while a Switch Lite costs $200. As a result, if you are looking to buy a Switch specifically for Tears of the Kingdom, the most economical option would be something other than the OLED model.
