The best legends to pick in Apex Legends’ Arenas mode

Choosing the right legend is just as important in the new mode

One of the bigger features in the Apex Legends battle royale is its charismatic line-up of characters. Each possessing unique abilities, voices and backstories, the legends are truly what make the game what it is. They’ve driven the battle royale to where it is today and, thanks to this popularity, they’ve helped spawn the newest game mode, Arenas.

Mimicking the gameplay of CS:GO or VALORANT, Arenas is a 3v3 round-based deathmatch. The mode features currency, a full-fledged buy menu and most of the items from the BR. However, the full lineup of legends that players are to pick at the beginning of each match is still present.

Players should focus on selecting the right character for their team or play style. However, there are certainly some that suit the gameplay of Arenas more than others.

The three best legends in Arenas

While the full cast of legends is included in Arenas, there are three that most, if not all, teams should consist of. Each legend presents a different playstyle and objective when playing Arenas. It’s important for players to determine which kind of playstyle they want to use before picking and mastering a legend in the game mode.

Here are the three best legends to choose in Arenas:

1. Rampart (Balanced playstyle)

While the Season 6 legend isn’t too useful in the battle royale, she’s extremely valuable in Arenas. Her Amped Cover provides excellent protection for the entire team, as players can get behind the wall to avoid all damage. This ability works well in Arenas thanks to the smaller map layouts.

To make matters even better, players who choose Rampart will be given three free charges of Amped Cover each round. This can be increased to nine with crafting materials, making Rampart one of the best choices.

2. Lifeline (Support playstyle)

Lifeline is the ultimate support legend in Apex Legends and this still reigns true in Arenas. Her biggest gimmick, in the new mode, is that she can purchase the Care Package ability in each round. This means that her team can have access to an upgraded weapon, a healing item and extra ammunition in every round.

With this ability, Lifeline players don’t necessarily ever have to purchase a weapon. However, this is dependent on teammates not stealing the weapon from the care package. This is what makes her the best support legend, though, as at least one player on the squad won’t have to buy a weapon.

3. Wraith (Solo playstyle)

Just as in Apex Legends battle royale, Wraith is a solid pick in Arenas. Her abilities are a solo player’s dream but she needs to be used correctly. Going full solo won’t work in Arenas, as it sometimes does in BR. Wraith’s tactical ability should be used for letting her escape but also for seeing where enemies are without fear of being shot at.

Her ultimate, on the other hand, is great for team play. The portal can be set up to allow the squad to flank the enemy or escape to a safer spot. While she’s still a solo legend, Wraith can also be used to great effect with a team.

No matter what legend players pick, it will take time to master their abilities all over again for Arenas, specifically.
