A little over a week ago, we reported on a bug rampaging through Apex Legends. The bug essentially locks level 500 players out of their accounts without any hope of regaining access. While it has only affected a small portion of the player base, this is still a huge deal. Players who put the most time into the game are being punished through no fault of their own.
For around a week, we have waited for a response from any developer at Respawn but heard nothing. That changed today, but the response certainly isn’t what the community wanted to hear.
Level 500 bug still at large
When Respawn added in extra levels to Apex Legends, the community was thrilled. Following a grueling Season 3, players finally had something else to grinds toward besides beating personal records. However, the excitement was short-lived when some players reached level 500 and were greeted with this message.
Since then, we’ve heard nothing from Respawn about a possible fix. While a big problem in any circumstance, it’s especially huge this week with the Grand Soiree event going on. Level 500 players can’t earn the rewards and play the modes without making a new account.
Well, we finally heard some news from a Respawn developer today. A designer at the studio, Reddit user RaymeCV, responded to a post on the subject.
So, obviously Respawn is aware of the issue and is supposedly working hard to resolve it. It’s better than nothing, but it’s still not what the Apex Legends community wants to hear. Hopefully, we’ll see a resolution before the launch of Season 4, which releases on Feb. 4. If not, perhaps Respawn will consider delaying the launch to avoid punishing level 500 players further.
We’ll let you know of any further developments to this story here at Daily Esports.
