Apex Legends lead product manager Lee Horn previewed the Season 2 Battle Pass progression system on Reddit today. As previously announced, it consists of regular challenges that players can complete to level up faster. Leveling up itself should be more rewarding, as Respawn has promised a more content-packed Battle Pass.

“Challenges will allow you to make significantly greater Battle Pass progress,” Horn writes in his post, “meaning you’ll unlock that sweet, sweet loot with less grind over less time by returning on a regular basis.”
“This Season’s challenges will not require a YouTube tutorial to figure out,” he added, noting that the challenges should be helpful, but not too complicated or involved.
The system will involve Daily and Weekly Challenges. The Daily Challenge will be random and reset each day, naturally. They are also not very intensive, according to Horn, who gave the example of “Play 1 game as Lifeline.”

Each week in Season 2 will give Apex players access to seven new Weekly Challenges. They remain until finished, and players can choose to complete them at their own pace. Latecomers will get every Weekly Challenge accumulated to the date they bought the Battle Pass.
The Apex Legends Season 2 Battle Pass will use Stars – a separate progression from the account’s experience points. Some challenges will reward Stars, while others could bump Battle Pass progression by entire levels when completed.
New cosmetics
Players got to test a version of the Apex Legends challenges with the limited time challenges in the recent Legendary Hunt event. These challenges rewarded new, unique cosmetics, and it will be interesting to see if Respawn does something similar in Season 2.
Respawn previously announced three new content categories coming to Apex Legends‘ cosmetics roster. We now know one of them will be the flying emotes. It’s possible another will be custom melee weapon skins or heirloom items. That would be a good replacement for the ultra-rare heirloom set, which was arguably the most questionable item in Apex‘s Season 1 monetization.
