The characters of Apex Legends are divided up into four separate classes. These are, in no particular order, Support, Recon, Offensive, and Defensive. The titles simply help to define what each character specializes in. So, for example, Lifeline is considered Support because her abilities help out the whole team. At this time, that’s all the Class system does, which is a bit underwhelming. However, according to a recent leak, new passive abilities for each Class could be coming soon in Apex Legends.
New abilities for the legends?
While every character in Apex Legends has a passive ability, some have more than one. Legends like Wraith, who has a small hitbox, take 5% more damage because they’re more difficult to hit. On the other hand, someone like Caustic takes 5% less damage because he’s slower and larger.
These don’t really relate to the specific classes, however. While it’s true the Defensive legends are usually larger, someone like Wattson doesn’t have a passive ability relating to damage intake.
Although, Respawn may be changing this up with a future update. According to a leak by dataminer @iLootGames, each class could receive its own unique passive ability. You can check out iLootGames’ video on the subject below.
If you’re unable to watch the whole video, we’ll break down the highlights. Essentially, iLootGames found evidence for class abilities in the PC files of Apex Legends. So, all four individual classes will possess their own ability if the leak holds true.
Here are the alleged passive abilities for each class:
- Recon: Scanning Survey Beacons reveal the next circle’s location
- Offense: Two special inventory slots for grenades
- Defense: Restore 1% shields to revived squadmates
- Support: Find extra supplies inside blue supply bins
Aside from the leak surrounding the passive abilities, there’s also some confirmation of other leaks. If this information is correct, then blue supply bins are a real thing, which was rumored when Season 4 was first revealed. This also confirms that all Recon characters, not just Pathfinder, will be able to use Survey Beacons.
Take these details with a grain of salt though, as sometimes leaks of this nature turn out to be false. However, this could change the meta of Apex Legends if introduced to the game.
