Luminosity signs SCRY roster in return to Apex Legends
Luminosity Gaming has signed a team to compete in Apex Legends, the organization announced on Thursday. The team consists of three Mexican players, all relative newcomers to the professional Apex scene.
“LUMINOSITY ENTERS APEX LEGENDS,” the organization tweeted. “Three new legends are dropping.”
The new Luminosity squad consists of Jacobo “NMEgo” Rios, Luis Enrique “Neazul” Ramos Suarez and Saul “YanYa.” NMEgo uses a mouse and keyboard, and primarily plays Pathfinder and Gibraltar. Neazul is a controller player who mains Ash. YanYa is also a controller player, rotating between Octane and Valkyrie in recent matches.
The three players competed under the name SCRY for the past few months, posting impressive results for a team with no organization backing them. SCRY made waves in Apex Legends Global Series: Split 2 Pro League – North America, where they placed 9th above well known orgs like Counter Logic Gaming, Sentinels and Complexity Gaming. That performance netted the team $4,500 and a trip to the ALGS Split 2 playoffs in Stockholm, Sweden.

The ALGS Split 2 playoffs will be the team’s first showing under the Luminosity banner. The event runs from April 29-May 1. It will be held on LAN in Stockholm, Sweden. Forty teams will compete for their share of $1 million prize pool and playoff points that will qualify them for the ALGS 2022 Championships in July.
Luminosity is one of a handful of all-Mexican rosters competing in the ALGS, alongside teams like All Glory Gaming and Team Power Mexicans.
Luminosity Gaming operates esports teams in a handful of different titles, including Fortnite, VALORANT and Rocket League. The Overwatch League’s Vancouver Titans and the Call of Duty League’s Seattle Surge are also Luminosity teams. Luminosity have previously fielded both NA and European Apex Legends teams, none of which have found significant success.
