Elden Ring is undoubtedly one of the best games of the last decade and it absolutely conquered the industry when it arrived back in 2022. Now, it seems rumors are circulating that the title could be headed to a new medium, mobile.
A mobile Elden Ring game isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about FromSoftware’s epic Souls genre, but mobile gaming continues to grow, it seems like only a matter of time before it happens.
For those wondering whether the rumors are true, and if Elden Ring really is coming to mobile, here is what you need to know.
Is Elden Ring coming to mobile?
Right now nothing has officially been announced or confirmed that Elden Ring is coming to mobile, however, there have been reports that a mobile version of the FromSoftware hit is in development.
On Feb. 6, 2024, Reuters reported that Tencent had been working on a mobile version of Elden Ring after acquiring the licensing rights for the title in 2022. While few details were shared in the report, sources claim that Tencent wants to make a “free-to-play” version of Elden Ring with in-app purchases. Obviously, this doesn’t sound like the mobile release any fans were hoping for.
We get it, nobody wants to see Elden Ring released in this way, but the idea of a hit AAA title coming to mobile now has precedent as the iPhone 15 Pro brought over other full-release games to be played on mobile. Going forward we’d expect to see more of this, but it seems that this Elden Ring title being developed is not that.
This game is being reported as a title similar to Genshin Impact which sounds like mad news for Souls fans, but we’ll hold out judgment until some kind of official announcement is made for the project.
Right now this is all the information available regarding Elden Ring’s potential release on mobile but if anything further surfaces this article will be updated to reflect the news.
