HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas is hosting online tournaments after transitioning to an online format amid the coronavirus outbreak. Allied Esports, a global esports entertainment company, founded the HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas in 2018. Since the venue’s doors opened, the arena has built a strong community of gamers and hosted over 300 esports events.
The arena experience from home
According to HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas, all in-person tournaments are suspended until the end of March. Allied Esports sees the need for gaming tournaments and wants to bring the tournament experience to all gamers.
“To continue providing to the esports community that the Arena has built both locally and nationally since 2018 and because of the onset of COVID-19, the venue has embraced their roots and will continue to deliver premier entertainment for gamers in the United States with the transition of moving all of their tournaments online.” –Hannah Hurlburt, HyperX Esports Arena representative
Many organizations such as ESL and Flashpoint have moved their tournaments online, but Esports Arena is approaching the situation differently. Rather than keeping online tournaments local, they’re opening their competitions to all U.S. regions. The company is providing an opportunity for fans of games like Fortnite, Overwatch, and League of Legends to compete in gaming tournaments.
Allied Esports has organized online tournaments, bringing the authentic competitive experience into the homes of players. Furthermore, players have the chance to show their skills in broadcast events on Allied Esports and HyperX Las Vegas’ official Twitch channels. The victors take home a part of the $500-$1,000 prize pools. Registration details and a full schedule of past and upcoming tournaments can be found at their website.
Las Vegas is one of the world’s favorite tourist destinations. Attracting visitors from all around is a double-edged sword as Nevada has over 300 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. To mitigate the virus’s spread, Nevada officials have taken proactive measures to keep the community safe. Las Vegas airports have seen decreased traffic, and temporary closures after reports of an air controller testing positive for COVID-19 surfaced. Because health concerns are rising, the public has been urged to stay home and limit all unnecessary activity.
