Diablo 4 is a game that can be as easy or as difficult as a player wants. From the get-go, players can decide what level of difficulty they want to play on. These levels are broken up into World Tiers, but there is also the Hardcore mode for players who truly want to test themselves. At the beginning of Diablo 4, players will only have access to World Tier 1 and 2.

As you might expect, World Tier 1 is the easiest version of Diablo 4, and players earn a standard rate of XP, gold, and drops on this world. World Tier 2 offers more difficult enemies in exchange for better loot and more XP/gold. Then, there is World Tier 3 and 4 in Diablo 4, which is only accessible after you have beaten the main campaign.

Naturally, if players want a harder challenge but don’t want to punish themselves on Hardcore mode, they might want to access World Tier 3 and 4 right away. However, they will need to complete a series of steps if they want to ascend to the higher tiers of Diablo 4. Find out exactly how to unlock the higher World Tiers by reading the guide below.

As previously stated, you will not be able to access World Tier 3 and 4 in Diablo 4 until you have beaten the main story. Once you do, you’ll be given some Epilogue quests that wrap up the story. However, in addition to that, you’ll also receive a new Priority Quest in Kyovashad called “World Tier 3: Nightmare.”

This quest is a Capstone Dungeon that players can complete at the cathedral in Kyovashad. A Capstone Dungeon is a harder dungeon than a normal one, and once completed, it will unlock the next World Tier. In this case, completing the Capstone Dungeon in Kyovashad will unlock World Tier 3. Although, players will need to be on World Tier 2 when they enter the Capstone Dungeon.

I was able to beat the first Capstone Dungeon as a level 48 Sorcerer with one other person in my party. It’s recommended that you be at least level 45 when taking on the dungeon, as the enemies inside will all be level 50. After completing the first Capstone Dungeon, you can select World Tier 3.

At this point, you will be able to complete the second Capstone Dungeon in Dry Steppes to unlock World Tier 4. However, the level requirement for that dungeon is 50-70, so I recommend waiting and getting some levels before taking it on. And that’s everything you need to know about unlocking the extra World Tiers in Diablo 4.
