How to get to the Mountaintops of Giants in Elden Ring

Reach the snowy land of the giants

The Mountaintops of Giants is one of the final areas you can reach in Elden Ring. You will only be able to access it after completing Leyndell, Royal Capital. That essentially means defeating the Demigod Morgott, who you can find after defeating the golden version of Godfrey.

Once Morgott is done and dusted, Melina will tell you to burn the thorns that are keeping you from accessing the Erdtree. To burn the thorns, you need to get a sacred flame from the Mountaintops of Giants.

To reach this area of the game, you will need to find the Grand Lift of Rold. There’s a marker on your map that indicates where you can find this, but it’s not the easiest place to reach. You have to backtrack in Leyndell, which can be a tricky area to navigate. To figure out exactly how to find the lift and reach the Mountaintops of Giants, keep reading below.

Getting to the Mountaintops of Giants in Elden Ring

Starting out, you want to fast travel to the Capital Rampart Site of Grace in Leyndell. From this Grace, head straight and then take a left up the stairs. Take the lift up and then go through the door and down the halls, taking a right at the dead end, to reach the East Capital Rampart Site of Grace.

From here, go straight out of the door and head past all of the white, musical enemies. Go on the right side of their pathway and then down to the golden rooftops when you reach the dead end platform. Go straight on the rooftops, hopping over to the different ones when needed. When you start seeing other roofs on the right side, hop over to those and keep going straight until you reach the end of them.

Go down to the street and open up the large gate at the end of the road. Keep going straight until you reach a grand staircase, as seen below.

Run past the enemies at the top of the stairs until you reach a lift room on the left side. Go up the lift and then head straight up more stairs to the bridge. There will be enemies here, but you can ride Torrent to avoid them. At the last bridge, you’ll run into two bosses, the Fell Twins. They appear in the dark, so it’s hard to track them. Using a summons really helps out here.

Once the Fell Twins are defeated, keep advancing and taking the lifts when needed. Eventually, you’ll reach a room that has a door leading out. This door will lead out to the Grand Lift of Rold, where you can use the Rold Medallion you got from Morgott to access the Mountaintops of Giants. You can also use the Haligtree Medallion to reach the Consecrated Snowfields.
