How to get the Red9 Pistol in Resident Evil 4 Remake

An iconic pistol returns

The Red9 pistol is one of the most iconic weapons from the original Resident Evil 4, and the developers at Capcom had no choice but to bring it back in the remake. However, in keeping with the tradition of a remake, the Red9 pistol is not found where it was in the original game. In the Resident Evil 4 that was released in 2005, players could buy the Red9 from the merchant fairly early on in the game. However, players now have to do a little adventuring of their own to find the handgun.

We would say the journey to acquire the Red9 pistol is well worth it, as it’s the best handgun you can equip in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Below, you can find a step-by-step guide for exactly where to find the Red9 pistol.

Getting the Red9 Pistol in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The Red9 pistol will not become available to you until Chapter 4 of the game. During this chapter, your character will fight a creature of the sea, which you need to defeat in order to acquire the pistol. After defeating the sea monster, you can head back out on the boat that you used to reach the monster in the first place.

The entire lake is open to you on the boat, but you want to head to the middle of the water. Here, there will be a wrecked ship, which holds two different treasure chests in it. Open up both of these treasure chests and one of them will hold the Red9 pistol. You can see exactly where you need to go in the map screenshot below.

Once you have secured the Red9, you can equip it immediately. By looking at the handgun’s stats, you’ll see that it packs quite the punch, possessing the most power out of any other pistol in the remake. It holds eight bullets by default, has a decent reload speed and rate of fire to go along with decent accuracy. You can’t go wrong with the Red9, especially if you need something reliable in a pinch.
