At some point along the way in Diablo 4, you will start to receive legendary armor and weapons. While you might have to wait to get the gear that best suits your build, the time will come. Your first goal with a legendary item will likely be to make sure it has the right Aspect equipped on it, as this is what separates the gear from anything else.

However, after that, you will likely want to upgrade the gear to its maximum level. To do this, you can visit a Blacksmith in Diablo 4, but you will also need some specific items. One of those items is Coiling Ward, which is extremely rare in the world of Diablo 4.

Coiling Ward is required to fully upgrade a piece of armor. Armor is fully upgraded at level four, and you will need rawhide, superior leather, and Veiled Crystals in addition to Coiling Ward to get to that level. If you have been searching for Coiling Ward but can’t find it in Diablo 4, you are not alone.

I spent hours trying to find it before finally realizing where it came from. Check out the guide for a quick and easy rundown of acquiring Coiling Ward.

There is good and bad news when it comes to Coiling Ward. The good news is that you can find it through one, easy method. The bad news is that method is to salvage legendary pieces of armor.

As you probably know, coming across legendary armor is usually completely random. Moreover, when you find legendary armor, you rarely want to salvage it. However, in order to get Coiling Ward, that is what you must do. Upon salvaging a piece of legendary armor at the Blacksmith, you will almost certainly get some Coiling Ward in return.

And that’s everything I have about getting Coiling Ward in Diablo 4. May the legendary luck be in your favor in Sanctuary.
