Out of all of the weapons available in Elden Ring, one of the most desirable is the Uchigatana katana. This is a classic sword that can deal a ton of damage when equipped with the right attributes. It’s a strength and dexterity weapon that more so scales with dexterity. The Uchigatana in particular comes equipped with an incredible Ash of War by default that can make boss battles seem like any open-world mob fight. However, as it’s a rarer weapon, Elden Ring has not made the Uchigatana katana too easy to find.
In order to locate it, you will need to travel north of the starting region of Limgrave into Stormhill. Once here, you’ll need to venture into a hidden dungeon and defeat some tough enemies to reach the Uchigatana’s location. Below, we show you exactly where to find the Uchigatana katana.
Finding the Uchigatana katana in Elden Ring
First and foremost, if you started as a Samurai, then you already have the Uchigatana. This is the starting melee weapon for this class, along with a bow. It comes with the Unsheathe Ash of War to start, giving Samurai players a formidable weapon to begin Elden Ring.
Alternatively, if you’re not a Samurai, you’ll need to head to Deathtouched Catacombs. This dungeon is found directly west of Saintsbridge in Stormhill. This bridge is located just south of the Divine Tower bridge.
Once inside the Catacombs, you’ll have to make your way through the maze of enemies and turns. At some point after several turns and staircases, you will encounter a lever. Pull this lever and then begin to backtrack to where you came from. Once you’ve climbed one set of stairs, turn left and go through a narrow path. This will lead to another path that opens up into a small room.
In this area, you will see a corpse hanging off a ledge. This corpse has an item, which you can pillage. That item is the Uchigatana katana. If you’ve already defeated the boss in Deathtouched Catacombs, then you can still come back to find the katana in the same spot.
The Uchigatana requires 11 Strength and 15 Dexterity to use, with a base physical attack stat of 115. It also has a passive effect where it causes blood loss buildup in addition to having the Unsheathe Ash of War.
