Karlach is a companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 that is a focal point of Wyll’s storyline, which has you trying to find the character very early on in the game. If you decided to make Wyll a part of your party in Baldur’s Gate 3, then you likely have a giant quest zone on your map that requires you to find Karlach. While this seems easy enough, plenty of players, myself included, have struggled to reach the area where Karlach can be located.
If you have been trying to reach Karlach’s quest area but simply can’t figure out how to do so, then this guide is for you.
Find Karlach in Baldur’s Gate 3
For reference, Karlach’s quest area is west of Emerald Grove and north of the Blighted Village. In order to access this area, you need to go to Blighted Village and make your way north. This will require you to either sneak into the village, talk your way in, or fight all of the goblins that occupy the area. You can find a waypoint right near the entrance to the village once you’ve made it through.

From the village, head directly north until you reach a road that veers to the northwest and northeast. You want to stay on the northwestern path, as this will lead you to a broken bridge. While you can’t walk across this bridge, you can simply use your character’s Jump ability to hop across the gap. All of your party members will be able to follow your jump after you’ve done so.
You can see the exact location of the broken bridge on the map screenshot below.
Once you’re past the bridge, keep going northeast until you reach a waypoint called The Risen Road. There will be a small building to the southeast of this waypoint.
Inside, you will find a man named Anders, who says that they have trapped Karlach at the river down a nearby hill. Head back out of the building and go down to the river to find Karlach on a small patch of land across from a tree trunk that’s laying over the river.
Once you find Karlach near the river, you can speak to her and get her side of the story.
