How does the Room of Requirement work in Hogwarts Legacy?

The Room of Requirement will likely be one of the biggest supporting areas of Hogwarts Legacy

The Room of Requirement is set to play a major role in the gameplay experience of Hogwarts Legacy. As demonstrated in the State of Play trailer, players will be using the Room of Requirement for a plethora of reasons. However, even with the trailer, fans are still confused as to what exactly they’ll be doing in the Room of Requirement within Hogwarts.

In the books, the Room of Requirement is a secret location that only appears to students who truly need its services. If a student finds the room, they’ll find that it’s furnished with whatever they need for their current situation. As the fifth film and book, “Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix,” explained, if a student needs to use the restroom, the Room of Requirement will comply.

While Hogwarts Legacy has a Room of Requirement that works a little differently, the basic principles are the same.

The Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy

The Room of Requirement serves multiple purposes in the newest Wizarding World game from Avalanche Studios. It’s unclear exactly when players will unlock the Room of Requirement, but it seems a kitchen elf, Deek, will help players discover its powers.

In the trailer, Deek shows players everything they can do in the Room of Requirement. This includes growing plants they need to make powerful potions to aid them, using portals to transport them to their own cottage and making use of an item called Vivariums to cultivate magical beasts.

In regards to the growing of plants, this actually takes real-time to do. So if you plant something and it says it will take 30 minutes to finish growing, you have to wait that 30 minutes in real time. These plants can then be used to craft magical potions.

For the cottage that you can customize, Deek shows you a small house portal in the Room of Requirement that transports you to another location. In this location, you’re in a grassy field and able to customize a cottage of your own design. While you can place different items in and around the cottage, you have a budget for how many items you can have at a time.

Naturally, there will be even more that you can do in the Room of Requirement once Hogwarts Legacy is fully released. For now, though, fans can chew on these nuggets of information until additional details are public.
