Elden Ring modders have added a pause option to the PC version of the game | Provided by FromSoftware

Here’s how you can pause Elden Ring during that tough boss fight

Pause, Tarnished

FromSoftware didn’t want you to have this power, but the people gave it to us anyway. Thanks to some friendly modders, PC Elden Ring players can now pause their game to contemplate life before getting their butt kicked. All you need is this mod.

FromSoftware Games, outside Sekiro, have rarely had pause buttons. Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki wants players to feel the satisfaction that “comes from overcoming hardship.” So you can’t stop the game to go to the bathroom, have a snack or look at a guide.

All you’ll need to do is disable anti-cheat and follow the directions on the mod page. It’s a simple mod installation that should be easy for first-time modders as well. Once installed, all you’ll need to do is press P in order to pause. The mod creator did leave one note.

“Note: When unpausing, there will be a short moment of fast-forwarding. So when pausing the game mid-bossfight, make sure the boss is not in an attack animation,” it reads. “Also, to unpause after alt-tabbing, simply left click the Elden Ring window so that it is focused and click P to unpause.”

Elden Ring launched on Feb. 25 to fantastic reviews and a huge audience on Twitch. It has hundreds of thousands of players playing on PC alone. It’s safe to say that Elden Ring could be one of the most popular games of the year. Fans have been waiting to get their hands on it since its initial reveal at E3 2019, after all.

Modders have only had their hands on Elden Ring for a few days now, so their aren’t many mods available yet. There should be a much more expansive selection in a few weeks.
