EA Sports has announced the details for Year 3 of the Apex Legends Global Series. ALGS Year 3 will include the ALGS Pro League and Challenger Circuit with a full return to global LAN competitions. Year 3 boasts a $5 million prize pool that will be paid out throughout the season.

What’s new for ALGS Year 3
ALGS Year 3 will feature three global LAN competitions, the Split 1 Playoffs in winter 2023, Split 2 Playoffs in spring 2021 and Year 3 Championship in summer 2023. There will also now be regional finals in each region. The regional finals will take place on the last day of each regular season split and involve the top 20 teams in a match point series. The winner of each regional finals will receive an automatic spot in the playoffs.
Updates to ALGS Pro League and Challenger Circuit
Asides from regional playoffs, there are also updates to both the Challenger Circuit and ALGS Pro League teams. The winning team of each Challenger Circuit competition will now get a guaranteed spot for the Split 2 Pro League Qualifier or the Last Chance Qualifier.
The ALGS Pro League will include 30 teams in each of the five regions. EA decided to reduce the number of teams from 40 to 30 to increase the competition levels overall. The game developers will invite 22 of the teams into the league, while the remaining eight will come from the preseason qualifiers. Teams not invited will need to register for the preseason. The preseason qualifiers will take place online in October 2022. Split 1 and 2 regular season will also take place online.
The ALGS Pro League will begin on Nov. 6 with 36 matches during the regular season. The 30 teams in each region will be divided into three groups of 10 based on performance from the previous year and preseason qualifiers.
The ALGS Championship Last Chance Qualifiers will now be a double-elimination tournament involving the top Challenger Circuit teams and all non-qualified Pro League squads. After the two splits are finished, the ALGS Year 3 championship will be the last event of the season. It will feature 40 of the best teams across all regions and a $2 million prize pool. The location for all the global events will be revealed later.
