Diablo 4 Battle Pass

Battle Passes have become a staple of modern games. Originally started in Fortnite, a Battle Pass is a way for players to unlock some free and paid content as they play a game. Usually, this content is cosmetic-only, meaning players can’t pay-to-win for certain gameplay-altering items. In Diablo 4, this will be the case, as Blizzard has already confirmed that every Battle Pass tier will be strictly cosmetic.

Like other Battle Passes, Diablo 4’s pass will have both a free and premium track. This means that players don’t have to buy the Battle Pass to earn content available through the tiers. However, players who buy the premium version of the pass will unlock every single tier of content on it.

The Premium Battle Pass in Diablo 4 will cost $10, the standard price. Blizzard described the Battle Pass in one of its FAQs: “Throughout the pass players can earn a variety of rewards for free, just by playing. At any point during the Season, players can purchase the Premium Pass to unlock the ability to earn Premium rewards tiers containing seasonally themed Cosmetics and Premium Currency.”

While the Premium Battle Pass will cost $10, players who buy the Digital Deluxe Edition of Diablo 4 will unlock it automatically while Ultimate Edition players will earn 20 free tiers on top of that. Although, players can save these tier skips for another season’s Battle Pass if they so wish. When Diablo 4 launches, so will the first season and its pass. From this point, players will have roughly three months to finish the Season One Battle Pass. Then, Season Two will launch and offer even more content.

It’s unclear exactly how many tiers will be on the Premium Battle Pass and we aren’t sure how long each tier will take to earn. However, without any tier skips, players can expect to spend a solid chunk of time going through all of the tiers. Players can purchase tier skips using the Premium Currency in Diablo 4, which can be purchased with real money or earned from specific tiers on the Battle Pass. This is similar to how games like Call of Duty and Fortnite give out their premium currency.

Diablo 4 launches on June 6, 2023.
