Cyberpunk 2077: Should you kill Rinder or let him live?

Talk about being on your last leg

The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman is a Gig that you can accept from Mr. Hands in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. It involves a homicide in the Stacks region of Dogtown, and the residents there already know who is responsible. According to them, a man named Rinder has been going around killing people left and right in the Stacks, and Jason Foreman is the latest victim. It’s your job to kill Rinder in Cyberpunk 2077 so the Stacks residents can finally know some semblance of peace.

However, The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman is not a straightforward Gig. While it might start off that way, it evolves into something much more that has you questioning your own motives.

In this guide, I will go into whether or not you should actually kill Rinder in Cyberpunk 2077 or if you should let him live.

Should you kill Rinder in Cyberpunk 2077?

When you finally get through the waves of enemies that were crawling around the sleazy motel in Night City, you will reach Rinder, who is sitting on a bed covered in bandages. According to him, he has suffered massive trauma as a result of being a weapon for Kurt Hansen and now doesn’t really have the ability to do anything, let alone kill more people.

After your initial conversation with Rinder, you will have the chance to kill or spare him. Here are the outcomes from either of those decisions:

Killing Rinder

If you choose to shoot Rinder, which is what you were instructed to do, then you can retrieve his dog tags and bring them back to the Stacks. After doing so, Mr. Hands will call you and reward you with $8,000 eddies for your efforts. No other consequences will arise as a result of killing Rinder.

Sparing Rinder

On the flip side, if you choose to spare Rinder, you can make a deal with him. The deal is he will give you the coordinates of his stash, which contains an iconic weapon and some other items as well. Rinder will also give you his dog tags so you can give them to the residents of the Stacks.

Accepting the deal begins a new quest, called Addicted to Chaos, which gives you coordinates for Rinder’s stash. The stash is located on a desk inside a garage and contains the Dezerter Iconic Power Double-Barrel Shotgun, Tier 5 crafting components, the DS1 Pulsar, and more items as well. After finding the stash, you can return to the Stacks, hand over the dog tags, and Mr. Hands will still reward you with $8,000 eddies.

As far as I can tell, you never hear from Rinder or the members of the Stacks again if you let him live.

Which choice should you make?

In my opinion, letting Rinder live and looting his stash is the best outcome. Rinder is so badly damaged that he won’t go around murdering anyone else, so the residents of the Stacks are safe regardless. Moreover, if you let him live, you get the same reward from Mr. Hands and gain some additional weapons and other items.

Of course, if you feel Rinder doesn’t deserve to live for what he’s done, kill him and collect your $8,000 eddies to be done with the matter.
