If you decide to help Songbird escape during the Neural Matrix scene in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, then you will set yourself on a collision course with Solomon Reed and the FIA. Reed wanted you to help him capture her so he can put an end to what she’s been doing. However, if you defy those wishes, Reed calls you and says that he will find and capture the both of you.
When you finally get to meet up with Songbird after the Neural Matrix scene, you travel to the lunar airport in Night City to help Song make her escape to the moon. Naturally, though, the FIA is one step ahead of you, and this leads to a nasty confrontation where you need to fight dozens of enemies. At the very end of it all, though, Songbird will reveal she has double-crossed you, and then you can call Reed to make a deal with him.
In this guide, I’ll go over the outcomes of handing Songbird over to Reed or continuing to help Songbird escape in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. There are major spoilers for the ending of Phantom Liberty in the guide below.Â
Handing Songbird over to Reed in Cyberpunk 2077
After Songbird says she has been lying to you the whole time about the Neural Matrix, you will likely be feeling some animosity towards her. If you want her to pay for her lies, then you can hand her over to Reed once the two of you get off the train that is traveling to the rocket ship.
Here, Reed will take Songbird and carry her away into an FIA chopper. You have the opportunity to make another deal with Reed that allows you to use the Neural Matrix on yourself to get the Relic out of your head. I have a guide going over what happens if you decide to take that route if you’re interested.
Regardless, though, you will see Reed and Songbird leave and never hear from Songbird again.
Helping Songbird escape in Cyberpunk 2077
On the flip side, if you decide to continue to go against Reed and help Songbird escape, then you will get one of the worst endings in Phantom Liberty. In this scenario, Reed still appears near the rocket ship and gives you one last chance to hand Songbird over. If you refuse once more, you need to kill Reed.
After Reed is dead, Songbird will board the rocket and fly away to the moon, never to be heard from again. You do not get an alternate ending to the base story of Cyberpunk 2077 if you take this route. Your only ending will be the one you get from completing the Nocturne Op55N1 quest.
Which choice should you make?
Seeing as Songbird is a liar, manipulator, and backstabber, I see no reason to help her escape to the moon unless you simply want to see all of the possible endings in Phantom Liberty. Handing her over to Reed unlocks a new ending for Cyberpunk 2077 and Reed gets to stay alive, which is what he deserves.
Of course, this is your playthrough, so do whatever you think your version of V would do.
