The Unforgivable Curse spells are some of the most memorable from the Harry Potter series. They consist of spells that are never meant to be used by anyone. Of course, dark wizards and witches make these spells their go-to for any manner of circumstance. The most infamous out of the three Unforgivable Curses is called Avada Kedavra. It’s known as the killing spell, as that’s exactly what it does to anyone unfortunate enough to get attacked by it. In the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy video game, fans are wondering whether or not they will have a chance to use Avada Kedavra.
The speculation around the spell began after the State of Play gameplay trailer was revealed. In it, it seems as though the main character uses a green spell to attack a foe. As Harry Potter fans will know, Avada Kedavra has the same exact color when used. So the question remains, will players get to use the killing spell in Hogwarts Legacy?
The Avada Kedavra spell in Hogwarts Legacy
It seems as though Avada Kedavra will in fact be a usable spell in Hogwarts Legacy. During the gameplay trailer, it’s revealed that you as the main character can several different routes when it comes to morality. You can choose to be a good witch or wizard, following the path of the righteous to take down the main enemies of the game.

However, it also appears you can choose to take a dark path. This might mean allying with the dark wizards and goblins, who have formed an alliance together to threaten the Wizarding World. It’s unclear exactly what the dark path will consist of but, according to the trailer, it seems it will let players use the Avada Kedavra curse in some capacity.
At this time, we haven’t seen the curse in full action. While the trailer did show the main character using it, we didn’t see the after-effects of what the curse actually does to a foe. In the Harry Potter movies, the victim of the Avada Kedavra curse goes still and has a green tint around them as they hit the ground dead. The developers could use this portrayal of the curse or go a different route.
