ARPGs give players a lot of options when it comes to tailoring their characters to the playstyle they prefer, but what about visually? Last Epoch is the next big ARPG to arrive in full release and with that, many new players will be diving in on the action.
If you are one of these new players then you might be curious about how to change your character’s appearance to be the visual masterpiece of your dreams. Sadly, it’s not so simple.
Is there character customization in Last Epoch?
Right now there is no way that you can customize your character’s appearance, and it doesn’t appear that there are any plans to introduce this feature to the game.
In the past, the community has asked Eleventh Hour Games devs for this feature many times but the response has been a no, for now. The devs believe that being a class-based game it is more important to prioritize creating distinct silhouettes instead of features that you largely won’t see while playing the game.
“Last Epoch is a class-based game and we prioritized creating distinct silhouettes, visual themes, and animations for the different classes over the ability to customize their appearance,” Eleventh Hour Games said in a Q&A. “There is a lot of work that goes into creating a distinct player character, such as voice acting, modeling, rigging, skinning armor, creating animations, and adding character customization would increase a lot of that work, even doubling it in some cases.”
Given the requests for this feature, the devs have said that it is not off the table, but will not be added with the game’s launch, or anytime soon.
“we’re reworking older content of Last Epoch, we’re also keeping this avenue in mind to not make things too focused on the existing pre-set characters to keep things open for this in the future such as cinematics and dialog.”
That’s the state of character customization in Last Epoch for now. Should we get any new info on this then this article will be updated to reflect that.
