Can you change mastery in Last Epoch?

Your choices matter.

ARPGs pride themselves on providing players with options to spice up gameplay and make their characters fit exactly what style they’re after. Well, sometimes players make a choice that they later regret, and the most important choice in Last Epoch is what your mastery will be.

Within the five classes available in Last Epoch there are 15 mastery classes that players can try out, each with unique abilities and playstyles. Each of the five classes can choose one of three, but what happens if you pick one that you aren’t happy with? Well, here’s what you need to know about changing classes.

No, right now there is no way for players to change their mastery in Last Epoch after selecting it. This is one of the only choices during your adventure that is permanent.

With this being the case, you should consider your choice before selecting one of the three masteries for your character. The good news is that all of them have a lot of versatility, so even within each class you can build in several unique ways.

Of course, if you’re desperate to try a different mastery you can always start a new character entirely. You will get the chance to pick a mastery after defeating The Husk of Elder Pannion, a mission you are given around level 15. So it will only take around three hours of game time before you get to make the big choice.

Remember that Last Epoch is intended to be played in cycles, so every few months you’ll want to start a new character anyway to play on the current servers. When this happens your previous characters will be migrated to legacy servers, so you shouldn’t be stuck with your character forever unless you choose to be.
