While the early game locations in Baldur’s Gate 3 are amazing to explore, nothing beats the actual city of Baldur’s Gate. It’s referenced dozens of times during Acts 1 and 2 of BG3, and players are likely wondering when they get to visit the city and how to get there.
Baldur’s Gate is a sight to behold in BG3. It is massive in size, especially when you consider there are two other separate maps that are accessible through the city in addition to the city’s map itself. The characters you meet and quests you can undertake when you reach Baldur’s Gate are nothing like anything you have experienced in the game up to that point.
While I still recommend enjoying Acts 1 and 2, here’s exactly when and where you can access the city of Baldur’s Gate in BG3.
Reaching the city of Baldur’s Gate in BG3
You will be able to visit Baldur’s Gate upon reaching Act 3 of the game, which only comes after the events at Moonrise Towers in Act 2. At the start of Act 3, you will begin your journey in the map of Rivington, which is the city right before Baldur’s Gate. The city of Baldur’s Gate itself is separated into the Lower City and Upper City. However, you will really only get to explore the Lower City and the sewer system beneath it, which are both giant areas to explore.
Near the end of Act 2, you will be able to discover the waypoint called Road to Baldur’s Gate. This is located on the western side of Reithwin Town and Moonrise Towers, but can’t be used until you complete the events of Act 2. Once you do, you can head to that waypoint and begin Act 3 in BG3.
