Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance’s release date is upon us, bringing with it a new legend, new cosmetics and a new Limited Time Mode (LTM). It was officially announced with a short cinematic, “Stories from the Outlands – Judgment,” which introduced Margaret “Mad Maggie” Kōhere as the game’s newest playable character.

Apex Legends Season 12 will begin on Feb. 8. The exact time has not been confirmed yet, but Apex Legends seasons typically officially begin at 1 p.m. ET.

Season 12 will mark the third-year anniversary of Apex Legends’ release, which was on Feb. 4, 2019. To celebrate, Apex Legends is offering free weekly login rewards for the first three weeks of the season, including permanent Legend unlocks and Apex Packs.

What is coming to Apex Legends in Season 12?

The biggest addition to Apex Legends Season 12 is that of the game’s newest Legend, Mad Maggie. She was previously introduced as part of explosive Legend Fuse’s backstory, as a former friend turned foe. Players may also be familiar with her voice from Season 8’s Takeover events, where she took over as the announcer for the Apex Games. Respawn Entertainment has yet to reveal Mad Maggie’s kit, but they have confirmed more details will be revealed ahead of Season 12’s release.

There will not be a new map this season; the game’s newest map, Storm Point, was released in Season 11. However, Respawn has teased changes coming to Olympus, stating that “something’s different about the floating city … but what?” Similarly, it is likely that there will not be a new weapon, as the C.A.R. SMG was added to the game in Season 11 as well.

Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance will also feature a Limited Time Mode called “Control.” In this mode, players will select their loadouts then drop into a 9v9 brawl to secure control points, with infinite respawn. This LTM will remain in the game for the first three weeks of Defiance.
