Season 4 of Apex Legends has been going over great for players that are actually able to play without issue. However, a large percentage of fans on console are having major problems performing even the simplest actions in-game. Looting, running, and shooting all seem to trigger serious lag and freezing that sometimes lead to game crashes. This has been a persistent issue all throughout Season 4 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users. Respawn did put out an Apex Legends patch yesterday attempting to solve the lag, but unfortunately for console users, this seems to have only made problems worse.
Console lag issues still present in Apex Legends
Last week, we reported on this problem, showing clips of console players who were experiencing lag and freezing. Amid the controversy, a Respawn developer stated on Twitter that a patch would be going out on Feb. 10 to resolve the issues.
Well, a patch did go out for console players last night. This required no extra download, just a simple restart of the game. At the time, players thought this would be an end to their lagging in Apex Legends. However, as we can see below, the lag is now worse than ever following the patch.

The clip clearly shows the lag is still there for Apex Legends players on console. It doesn’t appear that PlayStation 4 or Xbox One users have it better than one another. Both consoles are still experiencing mass lag and occasional freezing.
Obviously, Respawn needs to head back to the drawing board and quickly. Consoles represent a large part of the player base, and right now very few can play normally. This is especially frustrating with the new Valentine’s Day event going live today.
