Respawn Entertainment has announced the soft launch of Apex Legends Mobile in select countries. The countries that will be eligible to pre-register for soft launch include Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
This follows the closed beta test of the Android version of the game that some countries have been allowed to participate in. Of the countries included in the soft launch, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines were previously included in the closed beta as well.
Screenshots posted to the Google Play Store page for Apex Legends Mobile show off the game’s look as optimized for mobile. One screenshot shows an over-the-shoulder shot of Bangalore facing two enemies, raising the possibility that the game could shift to third-person on mobile for ease of control.
We can now see the roster of Legends who are available on mobile as well, which consists of Bloodhound, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Wraith, Bangalore, Caustic, Octane and Wattson. Initially, there was to be a limited roster available and only World’s Edge would be playable.
When will Apex Legends Mobile come out?
There is concrete release date as of yet. However, the game has long been expected to come out between July and September of 2022. This soft launch lends more credence to that timeline, as an official launch typically follows a soft launch closely. This iteration of Apex Legends is being developed specifically for mobile devices and, therefore, will not have crossplay with PC and console.
In the meantime, Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance is set to release on Feb. 8, featuring a new Battle Pass, new cosmetics and an all-new Legend.
