EA and Respawn Entertainment have released the first preview video of Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance, which will introduce an all-new Legend. Mad Maggie, previously introduced in Season 8 as a former ally of demolitions expert Fuse, will be the newest character joining the playable roster.
Who is Mad Maggie?
Mad Maggie, whose real name is Margaret Kōhere, was a childhood friend of Fuse. The two grew up on Salvo together, where Maggie became a fierce defender of Salvo’s independence. After Fuse decided to join the Apex Games, the two had a falling-out. In retaliation, she blew up Fuse’s arm — and half of King’s Canyon.
In the new trailer, “Stories from the Outlands – Judgment,” Maggie is shown being tried for sedition and inciting riots. She is sentenced to death, but just before her execution, Eduardo Silva — a powerful CEO and speedster Legend Octane’s father — decrees that she should be sent to the Apex Games instead.
Maggie is officially billed as “a cutthroat punk-rock warlord and the Outlands’ meanest mad-lass.” However, her exact kit has yet to be revealed.
When will Apex Legends Season 12 start?
Apex Legends Season 12 will officially begin on Feb. 8. It will mark the three-year anniversary since the release of Apex Legends on Feb. 4, 2019. To celebrate, there will be three weeks of free login rewards, including Legend unlocks and Apex Packs.
- Week 1 (Feb. 8 – Feb. 15): Permanent unlock of Octane plus three Thematic Packs
- Week 2 (Feb. 15 – Feb. 22): Permanent unlock of Wattson plus three Thematic Packs
- Week 3 (Feb. 22 – March 1): Permanent unlock of Valkyrie plus three Thematic Packs and one Legendary Pack
What else will be in Apex Legends Season 12?
Apex Legends Season 12 will also introduce a new Limited Time Mode called Control. For the first three weeks of Defiance, players will be able to play this chaotic mode where everybody selects their loadout, then drops into a 9v9 brawl to hold control points with infinite respawn.
There will not be a new map in the game this season. However, Respawn Entertainment has teased “something different” about Olympus in the coming season.
Additional details will continue to be revealed ahead of the season’s official start date of Feb. 8.
