Konami, the creators of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel released an in-game notification on Friday stating that the game will be unavailable for play in the late hours of Sunday due to extended maintenance. The Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel maintenance will last for an estimated three and a half hours from 11 p.m. EST till 2:30 a.m the following day.

The in-game notification tells players that maintenance will fix various bug issues. On top of that, it will include general system maintenance to improve stability and gameplay. Also, rooms and match history will be removed as part of an effort to improve server connections. This is listed as a “cache server update” in the message in-game. The maintenance also may conclude either earlier or later than scheduled without prior notice based on the logistics of the update and unforeseen circumstances.
What to expect from Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Maitenance
This is Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s second-ever maintenance period comes right after the mobile version was released worldwide over the last couple of weeks. The game officially came out on mobile in the United States over the last couple of days. Players may be expecting that this maintenance will include new modes or cards like data mines suggest. However, the first maintenance did not bring any new content into the game. The data mine content shows that in the future, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel will introduce more solo mode storylines into the game. Some of these include the stories for archetypes like Lightsworn and Mecha Phantom Beasts. Also, the data mine shows new tournament modes that open up new formats of play like only being able to use specific extra deck monster types like a “Synchro only” tournament as well as “Fusion only” and “Xyz only.”
There are a couple of things that are different in this maintenance than the last one. The first is obviously the time duration. The first maintenance lasted six hours, this one is only half of that. The second is that in the first maintenance, the Secret Pack timers continued to countdown even through maintenance There is no announcement in the new one stating that Secret Pack timers would continue to countdown this time. In Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, players unlock Secret Packs for 24 hours before they disappear. In the last maintenance, time did not stop while the game was unavailable. This meant players had less time to access the packs.
