Where to learn Incantations in Elden Ring

Deal some additional magic damage to enemies

In Elden Ring, there are two different kinds of magic. The first, and most prominent, is called Sorcery, which utilizes standard spells and a staff to take down enemies. If you’re an Astrologer or other character with a plethora of points in Intelligence, you can find a deadly Glintstone Staff fairly on in Elden Ring. The other kind of magic is called Incantations, and these use the same system as Sorcery but with vastly different spells.

Instead of using a staff to castle these spells, Incantations utilize a Seal or other similar weapon. This is the starting weapon on the Prophet class in Elden Ring. With a Seal, you’re able to cast Incantations from your memory slots to deal damage to enemies, heal yourself or cure an ailment. These can be extremely useful on the battlefield but are somewhat difficult to learn.

There’s one main location where you can learn some useful Incantations in Elden Ring. At the Roundtable Hold, you will find a number of NPCs waiting to have a chat with you about something story-related. Although, some are there for you to purchase items from them in addition to divulging story info.

There is one character, a Prophet leaning up against a wall, that will sell you Incantations if you keep talking to him. While his initial supply of spells isn’t great, you can bring him Prayerbooks that you find throughout the game and increase his product base. The more Prayerbooks you bring him, or any seller of Incantations, the more spells they’ll have to sell.

However, you can also find Incantations out in the world of Elden Ring. For example, we were able to find one named “Flame of the Fell God” by defeating the boss Adan, Thief of Fire at the Malefactor’s Evergaol located in the first region of Liurnia. This is found directly west of the first Site of Grace you can sit at in the region, just beyond Stormveil Castle. It’s located up on a ridge, so you’ll have to go around and into the lake to get up to it.

If you want a steady supply of Incantations, though, keep looking for Prayerbooks and bring them to the Prophet NPC at the Roundtable Hold. If you need to learn how to get back to the Hold after first visiting, read our previous guide.

Once you’ve acquired your Incantation, go to a Site of Grace and press the option that says “Memorize Spells.” From here, select the Incantation you want to equip into a memory slot and then you’ll be all set.
