There are a plethora of ways to take down an opponent in Elden Ring, from using spells or arrows at range to bashing them with a powerful melee weapon. However, one such combat method that’s often overlooked is throwable items.

These come from the Item Crafting section of Elden Ring and can provide you with a solid source of damage if they’re used correctly. One of the better options from this list of items is the Crystal Dart, which needs to be crafted from Cracked Crystal.

To gain the ability to craft Crystal Darts, you need to acquire the Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook [11]. This cookbook variant can be purchased from the Nomadic Merchant in Liurnia of the Lakes. He’s found due northwest from the starting Site of Grace in the region, along the western isle.

Once you have the cookbook, you can see that Crystal Darts take three Cracked Crystal to craft. If you don’t have any Cracked Crystal or just need to know where to acquire more, here’s how to find it.

Finding Cracked Crystal in Elden Ring

Cracked Crystal is one resource that’s not rare in Elden Ring. It can be looted from the crystal mining tunnels of the Lands Between, which are found in a few regions of the game. The locations that produce the most Cracked Crystal are:

  • Altus Tunnel
  • Sealed Tunnel
  • Sellia Crystal Tunnel

Out of these three tunnels, the easiest to reach is probably Sellia Crystal Tunnel, which is located in Caelid. You might have already been here if you fell for the treasure chest trap early on in Elden Ring. Even if you didn’t, Caelid is east of Limgrave and can be reached during the first few hours of the game.

Once you’re at any one of these tunnels, you can look for small patches of blue crystal on the rock walls. This is Cracked Crystal and you can farm it easily if you go back to the tunnel’s Site of Grace, rest and then come back to the same location you found the crystal at in the first place.

However, be warned, as the miners in these tunnels are extremely difficult to kill, especially for low-level players.
