Our rating scale

From one (lowest) to five (highest) stars, here’s what each star rating means in layman’s terms:

* Boring. Utterly skippable and something no one will remember by tomorrow

** Watchable. Possibly recommended based on your rooting interests

*** Good. Something I’d recommend checking out, even if you’re not a fan of either team

**** Must-watch. A game or series that you need to watch if you have any interest in VALORANT

***** An all-time classic. This perfect rating is only achievable if a game or match is at the highest level of entertainment, gameplay and will go down in the lexicon as a moment no VALORANT fan will ever forget

Let’s get started

Day 7 of VALORANT Champions is the final group stage day as teams will either be sent home, or more on to play another series in the quarterfinals of the knockout stage. After a series of upsets Monday, this slate of games is set up for a host of underdog runs and surprising results.

Vision Strikers vs. Cloud9: Ascent

** 1/2 stars

What started out as a one-sided matchup turned into an entertaining matchup as Vision Strikers attempt to come back without dropping two rounds on the attacking side. Glad the South Koreans decided to come to the stage in the second half and make this a game.

Vision Strikers vs. Cloud9: Split

** 1/2 stars

A more even matchup that saw the South Koreans pull away in the end. For an elimination match, this game was watchable but not overall exciting from an outside perspective.

Vision Strikers vs. Cloud9: Breeze

*** stars

The only map in this series to deliver in terms of entertainment. The South Koreans head home after almost completing a comeback. Cloud9 winning on an eco round also caps off this series as the most dramatic way to end a match.

Team Secret vs. Team Vikings: Haven

** 1/2 stars

Team Secret took a few wins and ran with that momentum all the way to a win. Both teams had exciting matches against Gambit Esports earlier in the group stage but this one started off a little flat. There’s time for more entertaining maps, but this one is easier to watch if you’re invested in either team.

Team Secret vs. Team Vikings: Icebox

** stars

This one seemed over after half time. Icebox is already boring to watch, and that doubles when the game is over early. Rest in peace Brazil, we hardly knew you.

X10 CRIT vs. Envy: Icebox

*** stars

An entertaining Icebox match, miracles can happen I guess. X10 and Envy traded blows on this map with highlight plays from both sides. If it weren’t for a few unfortunate rounds, X10 may have taken their map pick.

X10 CRIT vs. Envy: Split

*** stars

A comeback for X10 after Envy looked almost unstoppable in the first few rounds. Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker looked like he was ready to take on the world with just a Sherriff, but as he started to get picked off his team started to falter. The underdogs have forced a deciding match for the last North American hopeful.

X10 CRIT vs. Envy: Haven

**** stars

A slug fest of a map that sends North America’s second best team home. Overtime plus elimination match plus third map of the series makes this a must watch for any VALORANT fan. South East Asia’s supremacy begins at the expense of Brazil and North America and I, for one, am here for it.
