The final big con of the season took place this past weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Center — Toronto Fan Days. With the holiday season in full swing, it was an opportunity for cosplayers to show off their outfits with some added holiday flair. They did not disappoint. With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate having just released a day before, Saturday was deemed “Switch Day.” Outside the convention hall, you could see many gamers having Smash battles. But great cosplay in general was to be had here.
Cosplay with a fun twist
Tinsel, candy canes, Santa hats, elf ears, reindeer ears adorned their outfits, and some took full advantage to show off their true creativity. I was quite impressed with everything I saw first hand. With the holiday season and the end of the year only weeks away, Toronto cosplayers had a lot of fun. Below are some of the very creative video game-themed cosplays I was able to find at the convention. I enjoyed speaking with some of the cosplayers about their outfits and the creativity behind them. One cosplayer was actually dressed up as the North Pole (which many mistook for a holiday-themed version of the Pokémon, Glaceon).
Besides the cosplays, there was Santa to take photos with, a large shopping market, a crafters corner, and a few video game dealers as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and they even set up a cosplay red carpet event! It was a great way to end the con season and really get into the holiday spirit. I hope you enjoy checking out some of the pictures I was able to snap, and if you were in attendance, please feel free to chime in with your thoughts on some of these creative holiday twists on your favorite video game icons. Have a happy holiday season, everyone, and see you in January for more cosplay events.
