Starfield Blast Zone bug — How to fix it and complete quest

Starfield is massive, full of side quests, planets, and — unfortunately — bugs. One of the most frustrating players have come across in Bethesda’s space RPG is the Blast Zone bug. Luckily there’s a fix.

Blast Zone is a side quest in Starfield, found in Akila City. When you speak to Ngodup Tate, you’ll be offered some homes to purchase as well as the opportunity to complete a side quest called Blast Zone. Basically, he wants you to clear some Hard Rock from his property.

How to fix the Blast Zone bug in Starfield

For some explorers, Blast Zone has become unnecessarily difficult due to a bug that shows up in many playthroughs. Basically, you head to the property and attempt to use your Cutter to destroy a specific Hard Rock boulder only to not see the rock anywhere. You basically won’t be able to progress.

This is due to a bug that essentially makes the rock show up in the wrong spot — somewhere that can’t be reached. Luckily it can be fixed.

Basically, fast travel to Venus in the Sol system. Sleep on your ship for a period of time, even a full 24 hours. When you wake up, the game should autosave. Then, head back to Akila City and return to where the rock was previously invisible. In most instances, the Hard Rock should now be visible.

Then, remove it with your Cutter. Let Ngodup know that you blasted away the rocks and he’ll give you 5800 Credits and 57XP.

Heart of Mars bug in Starfield

A similar bug has impacted the Heart of Mars side quest. In this quest, you are sent to a creepy cave where you can use your Cutter to destroy the Heart of Mars and bring a piece back or sell it.

Unfortunately, sometimes the Heart of Mars doesn’t break, even when it’s visible. That’s because it’s stuck underneath the surface of the cave, similar to the Blast Zone bug. Right now, there is no solution for this bug but you can try doing the same thing as previously stated and hope for the best.
