Six Masters: Biggest prize pool in ANZ Rainbow Six history

Australia and New Zealand are making waves in the esports scene. From smashing numbers at IEM Sydney, to record crowds at BAM11, it’s a region exploding with growth. The latest announcement from Ubisoft this morning pushes ANZ further into the esports spotlight. The Six Masters 2019 will feature a $50,000 AUD prize pool, double that of the Six Masters last year and the Six Oceanic Cup held in March.

For the curious readers, here’s the prize pool breakdown:

  • 1st Place – $20,000
  • 2nd Place – $10,000
  • 3rd-4th Place – $4,000 each
  • 5th-8th Place – $2,000 each
  • 9th-10th Place – $1,500 each
  • 11th-12th Place – $500 each

Excitement all around for Ubisoft

Sebastian Østfeldt, the Esports Business Analyst at Ubisoft Australia, expressed his excitement at the expanded prize pool:

We could not be more excited to reveal the prize pool for the Six Masters 2019. The esports community in the ANZ region has shown tremendous passion and dedication to the Rainbow Six scene and we’re thrilled to deliver a prize pool that demonstrates our increasing commitment to the long-term health of our esports program down under.

Twelve teams will firstly compete in round robin-style group stages, kicking off next weekend. The group stages will run over the next five weeks. The top four teams will play in the LAN final event in Melbourne. This LAN will be on stage at the Melbourne Esports Open. Tickets are now open and can be purchased from the website. If you can’t make it to Australia, then watch all the action live on the official Rainbow Six ANZ Twitch channel.

Fans will certainly be keen to tune in and watch their favorite players compete. The finals will be a single-elimination, bo3 for the title of Six Masters 2019. We wish all the players and teams the best of luck. Check out the draw above to cheer on your team.
