Ubisoft has announced that Rainbow Six Siege will soon implement a battle pass. This news came during the world premiere of the game’s newest Operation Ember Rise update. Thanks to the popularity from Fortnite: Battle Royale’s battle pass, many other games have introduced similar concepts. Now, Rainbow Six will join that list, with a free “Mini Battle Pass” coming before a paid version arrives for the third season.
Rainbow Six Siege Battle Pass
Rainbow Six Siege‘s initial, free “Mini Battle Pass” will allow players to earn Battle Points. The free version, named “Call Me Harry,” will last for one week. It will only have 7 tiers to unlock. Like other battle passes, players can redeem Battle Points toward various virtual rewards like the Harry Chibi charm.
The paid battle pass will release with Year 4’s third season. It will feature both a paid and free option, with the paid track offering better rewards than the latter. However, the battle pass is different from those in games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, where players have to finish missions or challenges. In Rainbow Six Siege, unlocking tiers only requires players to play in matches to gain points. It will also continue to feature Rainbow director Dr. Harishva Pandey, or Harry, as the narrator.
Operation Ember Rise
The third season’s operation features an updated Kanal map, two new operators, and a few other game improvements. One of the operators is named Amaru, who comes equipped with a grappling hook that enables quick movement. The other operator, Goyo, has a Volcan Shield that includes an attached incendiary bomb to deal damage.
The updated Kanal map has gone through a rework to make map movement easier with new stairs and paths. The existing bomb sites have also been moved to new areas. Ubisoft has agreed to bring updates to combat player toxicity and map rotation as well. These changes and more will release onto the Rainbow Six Siege test server on Aug 19. Bugs and other issues can be easily reported through the Bug Hunter program.
No official date was given for the update’s release to the main game. Are you excited for any of the two new operators with Operation Ember Rise? Let us know in the comments, and keep up with all of the latest Rainbow Six Siege news and content here at Daily Esports.
