Pokimane began streaming on Twitch in 2013 when she was 17 years old and primarily played League of Legends. Since then, she’s turned her channel into one of the most popular channels on the website while enjoying a variety of different games and other forms of content with her community. She is the most-viewed woman on the platform today with nearly 9 million followers and over 200 million total channel views.

In March of 2020, Pokimane announced that she’d signed a multi-year exclusivity deal with the streaming giant to continue making content on the platform. While she has yet to confirm where the next home for her stream will be, or whether she plans to re-sign with Twitch, the prospect of Pokimane’s next home is an exciting one considering the recent large platform moves by her streaming peers.

In September of 2021, Timothy “TimTheTatman” John Betar left Twitch to sign an exclusive deal with YouTube after years of streaming on the platform. The following November, popular streamer Ludwig Aghren also announced that he would be leaving Twitch and joining YouTube. This was after he’d just broken the record for most subscribers during his subathon.

On Monday, former Twitch streamer turned YouTube mainstay Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter announced that she would be re-signing with YouTube after teasing that she was still in negotiations with the platform.

As a free agent, Pokimane will be able to explore offers with other streaming platforms or even esports or gaming organizations for a new home for her content. Or, she could ultimately end up re-signing with Twitch. Fans will have to wait until Feb. 8 for an official announcement from Pokimane on what the future of her stream will look like.
