Following a huge update released Thursday, dataminers quickly discovered that there are two brand-new packs coming to the game and shortly after the update went live, Konami officially announced it too.

On Monday, two new Selection Packs will make their way into Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. The first pack, Refined Blade, introduces cards from 2021’s biggest core booster set, Burst of Destiny. In this pack, players will finally be able to pick up cards from the Swordsoul archetype. This archetype is the game’s best Synchro-based strategy and utilizes Wyrm-type monsters. The archetype also makes other Wyrm-based Synchro archetypes better like Tenyi and Yang Zing.

On top of that, the most powerful boss monster in the physical game today, Destiny HERO – Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer, is in this pack. That card in particular is so powerful that the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel ban list preemptively put the card’s fusion spell, Fusion Destiny, to two copies before “DPE” even came out.

Another interesting note about this pack is that it includes cards from the P.U.N.K archetype. This archetype came out in The Grand Creators, a separate expansion. This likely means that the rest of the cards from The Grand Creators will be coming out in a selection pack in the near future.

The other selection pack, Fusion Potential, doesn’t bring any new cards into the game, but it does feature primarily Fusion monsters from some of the game’s best Fusion-based archetypes. This is likely due to the next in-game festival being one based around Fusion summoning, so this is a good way for players to obtain cards in advance.
