Konami announced in-game that the first-ever update to the Master Duel Forbidden and Limited List will be coming out on Monday, May 9 and even showed off all the changes that players can expect when the list becomes official. But it’s the content of the list that has the player base up in arms. With many potential problem cards that affected the format negatively, players were hoping to see bans thrown at cards like Zoodiac Drident, True King of All Calamities, Number 86: Heroic Champion – Rhongomyniad and many more. Instead, Konami did not ban any of those. In fact, they didn’t ban any cards at all.
Konami decided to touch 12 cards on this very first banlist update. Two cards are going to be limited, One card is becoming unlimited. And a whopping nine cards are being semi-limited, meaning that players can now only use two in a deck instead of three. Historically, semi-limited cards in the physical game have had little effect when it comes to nerfing decks. Here are the cards being hit and what their status is going to be on the ban list.
The Banlist changes
- Cyber Angel Benten – Unlimited to Limited (3 copies to 1 copy)
- Conquistador of the Golden Land – Unlimited to Limited (3 copies to 1 copy)
- D.D. Dynamite – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- Sekka’s Light – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- Fusion Destiny – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- The Phantom Knights of Torn Scales – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- Tri-Brigade Fraktall – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- Virtual World Roshi – Laolao – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- Lyrilusc – Cobalt Sparrow – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- Prank-Kids Rocksies – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- Adamancipator Analyzer – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
- Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon – Unlimited to Semi-Limited (3 copies to 2 copies)
The decks that these cards affect are Drytron, Eldlich, Tri-Brigade, Virtual World, Adamancispator, Phantom Knights, and finally D.D Dynamite burn deck. However, these hits are not enough to make these decks unplayable in the slightest.
One thing players are actually happy about is that Konami announced that due to these cards being hit on the banlist, players will be able to dismantle their extra copies of each card for their full craft amount. Meaning that players will get the full 30 CP for a dismantle of a card instead of 10.
