LeBron James will take on a cartoonish look similar to his appearance in “Space Jam: A New Legacy” for MultiVersus, even sporting a blue Tune Squad jersey based on the movie. LeBron James will become available on July 26, the same day as the full launch of the open beta.

Meanwhile, both Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith will make their way into MultiVersus during the Season 1 battle pass. Morty will be available at the start of the season on August 9, while Rick’s release date remains unconfirmed; however, he will become playable during the same season.

A new gameplay trailer confirmed that LeBron James will be a Bruiser character. This means many of his attacks will deal high damage and knockback, although they will likely have slow start-up to balance them out. Fittingly, many of LeBron James’ moves involve him passing, dribbling and dunking a basketball.

The new gameplay trailer also briefly showed off a new stage based on “Rick and Morty.” This stage is mostly flat, with a wall on the left side leading up to the stage’s sole platform. However, the trailer did not feature any gameplay footage of Rick or Morty against other fighters.

Months before MultiVersus came out, leaks suggested that LeBron James, Rick and Morty would become playable at some point, alongside a plethora of other characters. Leakers also revealed characters already in the game like Velma, Taz and Iron Giant before their official reveals in a similar fashion. As a result, it may be some time before a MultiVersus character announcement will be a total surprise.
