Jade Emperor Yu Huang graces the SMITE battlefield: Full abilities revealed
Jade Emperor Yu Huang will grace the SMITE battlefield on April 19, according to the 9.4 update notes. All of the new god’s abilities were revealed during a Twitch livestream on Wednesday.
Yu Huang: Master of the Dao
As hinted at by the developers earlier on, Master of the Dao is the new god’s passive, which grants him a stack of Dao every 15 seconds. The Jade Emperor can also get Dao by damaging an enemy after being out of combat for a few seconds. Once the Jade Emperor obtains six or more stacks, his basic attacks can chain to one extra enemy.
Flames of the Phoenix
Jade Emperor Yu Huang’s first ability is Flames of the Phoenix, which involves spreading cinders into an “X” shape. Four cinders collide in the center and explode into flames that last for a few seconds. When Yu Huang has six or more stacks of Dao, a phoenix appears at the center of the ability.
Dao Cultivation
Next, Dao Cultivation is a charging ability that rewards the Jade Emperor with more stacks the longer he waits to fire the projectile. The meter for his Master of the Dao passive changes to the color red, indicating how much Dao he will get if he fires it. The center of Dao Cultivation’s projectile area deals damage and slows while the two outside areas root enemies.
Celestial Flight
When using Celestial Flight, the Jade Emperor goes up into the air thanks to the Pearl Dragon and becomes untargetable. Then, he floats back down and damages enemies where he lands. With enough Dao, the Pearl Dragon descends with Yu Huang and swoops around him to knock back enemies.
Yu Huang Ultimate: Dueling Dragons
Yu Huang’s ultimate is Dueling Dragons, which makes him immune to crowd control and calls forth the Pearl Dragon plus a dragon of his own. The Jade Emperor has a few seconds to aim his dragon at the Pearl Dragon so that they both charge at each other. When they collide, they create an explosion for damage. The width of the dragons increases significantly if Yu Huang has enough Dao.
SMITE players who wish to play as the Jade Emperor can also collect new skins for him. These skins include Rising Dao, Ascended and Masteries.
