An early contender for surprise hit of the year in 2024 is Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. The new action RPG from developer Don’t Nod received terrific reviews out of the gate and looks like one of the year’s best overall titles so far. However, the game has only been released on the current-generation consoles and PC, so what does this mean for PS4 and Xbox One users?
As time has gone on, the last-generation consoles have started to receive fewer and fewer new titles. Developers have nearly phased out the last-gen consoles completely, leaving PS4 and Xbox One owners to stick with their current selection of games or be forced to upgrade. But with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, are PS4 and Xbox One users out of luck or is there a last-gen release planned for the future?
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden on PS4 or Xbox One
Unfortunately, there are no official plans for a PS4 or Xbox One port of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Developer Don’t Nod has not announced anything regarding the last-gen consoles, which all but confirms the developers aren’t working on a release for either console. The graphics featured in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden are simply too advanced for even the PS4 Pro, making a port nearly impossible to accomplish.
This also goes for the Nintendo Switch, which also won’t see a release for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. So, if you want to play the new action RPG from Don’t Nod, you’ll have to either upgrade to an Xbox Series X|S or PS5.

You can also play the game on PC, both on a desktop and the Steam Deck. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden runs surprisingly well on Steam Deck, so that’s certainly an option for any players who want to play the title on the go.
