How to get an uncommon pickaxe in LEGO Fortnite

There are dozens and dozens of materials you’re able to gather throughout the world of LEGO Fortnite, but not all of them are immediately accessible. To acquire rarer and more advanced materials, you need the right gear. One such piece of gear is the uncommon pickaxe, an essential part of progressing early on in LEGO Fortnite.

The uncommon pickaxe is the next level from the basic pickaxe you acquire during the game’s opening hours. Without an uncommon pickaxe, you can’t mine materials such as Rough Amber, which is a crucial resource requirement in upgrading your village and other pieces of gear. Getting an uncommon pickaxe in LEGO Fortnite

The best way to acquire an uncommon pickaxe in LEGO Fortnite is to make one yourself, which is done by crafting a couple of specific stations. Those stations are the Crafting Bench and the Lumber Mill. Build those two stations and then find some Knotwood, which can be acquired by simply knocking down branches in caves with your starter axe.

With Knotwood, you want to insert it into the Lumber Mill to create Knotwood Rods, a key ingredient in the creation of an uncommon pickaxe. Next, you need to acquire Bones, which are mainly harvested from killing skeletons at night time. These two ingredients are the only materials you need to make an uncommon pickaxe. Taking both the Knotwood Rods and the Bones, head to a Crafting Bench. You need three Knotwood Rods and three Bones to make the uncommon pickaxe. If you have those quantities, craft the pickaxe at the Crafting Bench.

Upgrading your Crafting Bench in LEGO Fortnite

It should also be noted you will need to have upgraded your Crafting Bench to the second (uncommon) tier to unlock the recipe for the uncommon pickaxe. This is done by collecting three Shells and eight Planks, which are fairly easy to find/make.

Shells are found by harvesting Rollers while Planks are made by putting wood inside of your Lumber Mill and making it into Planks. Once you have the materials, take them to your Crafting Bench and go to the tab in the top-right corner of the menu. From here, insert your materials to upgrade your Crafting Bench to the second tier, which unlocks the recipe for the uncommon pickaxe in LEGO Fortnite.
